It was a story that dominated the news agenda for days; the sink hole into the Surrey village of Godstone. The National media descended in mass. But the story doesn’t end when the national media decide to move on. Neil Munday from community radio station Susy Radio, and a local resident who was in Godstone that evening, describes what happened and how Susy Radio will continue to follow this story, even after the national media caravan have long moved on.

Ofcom have commissioned Wavehill to undertake independent research into the ways that social gains provided by the Community Radio sector can be measured and evaluated.

New measures to secure the long-term success of the UK’s community radio stations have been announced by the government. There are more than 300 community radio stations dedicated to serving small geographic areas and largely run by more than 20,000 volunteers across the UK.

The Community Media Festival 2023 will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the UK representative body for community broadcasting.

LEGACY AND TOMORROW - The CMA's 40th anniversary is being marked with the Community Media Festival 2023 in the City of Leicester, the birthplace of local radio.

In the first two weeks of February 2023 the CMA surveyed the community radio sector on a number of different issues. We had 100 responses, representing 76 organisations.

Most people reading this are very busy people with little spare time, so asking whether you have time to become more involved in community radio may sound like a huge ask!
